Melody S. Boone is a mixed media artist with an interdisciplinary practice who creates layered conceptual and symbolic portraits. Through her immersion in black and art history, Melody attempts to use her abstracted narratives and visual cues as a way to dispel notions about race.

Her techniques include pixel blending and layering images via code to create a visual collage effect. Along with art-making, Melody has worked with several professional artists, has participated in artist residencies and co-ops, and has received artist fellowships and grants to assist in educational funding. 

She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in 2003 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and her Masters of Fine Art in 2009 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Melody has been featured in numerous group exhibitions throughout Hampton Roads, VA, New York, New Jersey.
