Jamie Lehrhoff Levine
South Orange NJ
Showcase 14C artist 2019
Jamie Lehrhoff Levine creates impactful prolific art that prompt pause and reflection with the aim to precipitate meaningful change in the world.
The scope of her work is vast and has incorporated the manufacturing of genetic hybrids, while at the Bio Art Lab at SVA, textiles, jewelry, sculpture, and painting — including her current work that is directly related to Monarch Butterfly migration and preservation. Employing a high degree of craftsmanship and an intentionally labor intensive material practice, she is fastidious with her execution. Whether working with silicone, applied in transparent layers until it mimics real skin, casting bronze, or applying individual hairs to a 12-foot sculpture, Jamie Lehrhoff Levine is obsessive when it comes to attention to detail.
Jamie earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from Syracuse University, Syracuse NY, and Master’s in Fine Arts from Montclair State University, Montclair NJ. She received an Excellence in Jewelry Award from Montclair State University and a Research Project from the BMW Guggenheim Lab that resulted in impactful programming with ecological-artist collective SPURSE. Jamie Lehrhoff Levine has participated in numerous group exhibitions regionally as well as overseas in London, Berlin, and Montecastello, Italy.
