Arts destination
Jersey City is home to thousands of artists and dozens of arts venues and organizations. In 2026 the Centre Pompidou will open its only North American museum in Jersey City, joining other arts anchors like Mana Contemporary, the historic Loew’s Theatre, White Eagle Hall and Art150.
Jersey City is also home to WFMU and the unparelleled art collection at HCCC, as well as several galleries, theaters and dance companies.
There are numerous arts events throughout the year, with six Art Crawls, JC Fridays four times a year, summer dance and music festivals, the Jersey City Jazz Festival, and the Art & Studio Tour, which has been held each year since 1990.
Arts community
Jersey City is home to thousands of artists and members of the creative community. It has its own vibrant cultural scene, but is also linked by public transit to the arts and culture of both New York City and Newark.
Jersey City became a leader in the state by advocating for, and then implementing, a small arts tax, which provides funding for the local arts organizations and institutions, as well as individual artists.
