Tasha Lewis is a sculptural artist who investigates the interconnected histories of textile and technology. Employing her own body as a starting point, Tasha explores the ways in which history’s multiple returns to the female form both empower and undercut her own influence in systems of power.

Weaving literature, theory and art history with her materially expansive visual art practice, Lewis elevates the diminished value of female-gendered labor by highlighting its creative attributes and utilizing neoclassical icons. 

Lewis has exhibited throughout the United States, including at the Parthenon Museum in Nashville, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Spartanburg Art Museum, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, the Sarasota Art Center and the Sotheby’s Institute. She has been profiled by the National Endowment for the Arts magazine and Tri-Star Art’s Online video series, Liminal Space.

Lewis holds a Master of Fine Art from the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College. She was a 2023 Open studio resident at the Haystack Mountain School of craft, and is an organizing artist for a themed residency in digital clay at the Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts for the summer of 2024.
